Our goal is to ensure you get the most out of your time and have the most authentic experience possible.  

  • How much does a tour cost?
    Day Tours (Meet at the bottom of the Entry Staircase, 10 minutes prior) Adults $15 Children (5-17) $7 Children (<5) Free Night Tours (Meet at the Front Gate, 10 minutes prior) Adults $20 Children (5-17) $10
  • Before you visit
    Patrons are advised not to bring oversized items into the Lighthouse such as prams, baby capsules or large bags. Please do not visit if you are unwell. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an Adult. Dogs can be tied to the bottom of the Lighthouse in the shade at your own risk. No snacks or drinks to be brought into the Lighthouse.
  • Why do you only provide guided tours?
    To ensure the safety of you and all other patrons on the tour but most of all to ensure you get the most out of your time and have the most authentic experience possible. Our passionate guides provide you with in depth knowledge, key facts about the history of the lighthouse and the stories of its lightkeepers and their families.
  • Do you have toilet facilities?
    We have unisex toilet facilities onsite. (To the left of the Entry Staircase, behind the Lighthouse)
  • What should I wear?
    We encourage comfortable clothing and flat/low heal footwear (sneakers, flats, boots or sandals).
  • What are your opening times?
    Our passionate tour guides lead small groups (10-12 people) through the Lighthouse at designated times. South Australian School Holidays Tours leave on-the-hour from 10am to 3pm each day, with online bookings available to secure a place. Outside of School Holidays If the gate is closed, we are still available and very happy to take guided tours, simply phone us on 0427 854 175 to arrange a suitable time. We absolutely love what we get to share, so it is not an inconvenience. Guided tours can be arranged any day, any time (weather and guide availability permitting)
  • How long does a guided tour go for?
    Please allow 45 minutes for the guided tours. Day Tours Immerse yourself in the world of lightkeepers and their families. Experience the thrill of discovery as you explore artefacts and relics, decode the secret message and delve into transcribed logbook entries dating back to the early 1910s. Explore the living quarters of the keepers and their families, witness the lighthouse's relocation through photos and ascend the helical staircase to the Lantern Room for a breathtaking view of Kingston SE and Lacepede Bay. Night Tours Climb the 85 helical stairs (external and internal stairs are lit) to the Lantern Room and experience the revolving beams casting their light across the waters of Lacepede Bay. This exclusive evening experience offers a glimpse into the enchanting world of the lighthouse after hours, providing a unique opportunity to witness its beauty in a whole new light.
  • Accessing the Lighthouse
    There are 31 stairs (with rails either side) to access the Entry of the Lighthouse (Level 1). From the Entry/Flag Room it is a further 15 solid spiral stairs to access the Accommodation Level (Level 2) and a further 70 solid spiral stairs (3-4 minutes) to access the Lantern Room and Upper Deck (Level 3). No ladders are required to be climbed during the standard guided tours.
  • Do you take group or school bookings?
    We welcome school groups and tour groups for guided tours, where students can ignite their worlds with the wonder and curiosity of the Lighthouse and it’s stories. Booking for a group of 12 or more?  Get the most out of your experience by getting in touch prior to your visit to discover your options, we can tailor a tour just for you.

  • Is the tour safe?
    Although the tour is safe, all patrons enter at their own risk. In case of an emergency, follow the instructions provided by the Lighthouse Guide. Tours will not proceed if the weather forecasted is going to be over 35 degrees or over or gale force winds.
  • Do you have any merchandise?
    We have a small supply of branded tea towels, magnets, caps, books, beanies, wine cups and postcards for your to purchase at the Entry once your tour has finished. If you would like to purchase any items for a present outside of the tours, please contact us on 0427 854 175 to arrange.
