This year we have the privilege of hosting the Lighthouses of Australia AGM, so we are making a weekend out of it. Taking place from the 18th October to the 20th October, this special event offers a range of activities, including an exclusive exhibition, guided tours and insightful talks from distinguished guest speakers.
Weekend Highlights:
Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Logbooks Exhibition: Discover 82 carefully selected pages from the lighthouse's original logbooks, showcasing records from 1872 to 1966.
Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Cottage Ruin Tour: Join a guided walking tour to the historic cottage ruins, with Friends of Butcher Gap to assist with vegetation interpretation.
Margaret Brock Reef & Lighthouse Platform Tour: Embark on a boat tour to the Margaret Brock Reef & Lighthouse Platform, offered in partnership with Limestone Coast Boat Tours (bookings required, weather and numbers permitting).
Day & Night Lighthouse Tours: Experience the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse by day or night with our guided tours that reveal the secrets of this iconic structure.
Annual General Meeting (Lighthouse of Australia Members Only): Engage with fellow lighthouse enthusiasts in our annual meeting, exclusive to members.
Guest Speakers:
Anne Daw: Daughter of Verne McLaren, who played a pivotal role in relocating the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Tower.
Armin Huefner: Project Engineer in 1975, who will discuss the footings and lower structure of the lighthouse.
Professor Miles Lewis: Portable Buildings World Heritage Nomination Task Force 'The Iron Lighthouse.'
Group Lunch & Dinner:
Dinner: Join us at the Crown Inn Kingston on Saturday, October 19th from 6pm.
Lunch: Enjoy a relaxed meal at the Senior Citizens' Clubrooms on Sunday, October 20th from 12pm to 1:30pm.
Bookings are required for the lunch and dinner event.
